At least one biographer has made a strong case that Charlie Brown represented Snoopy and Charlie Brown life is better with Christmas music sweatshirt the insecurities and disappointments of Charles Schulz himself. Schulz was advanced two grades in elementary school and spent the rest of his childhood struggling to maintain both educational and social parity. He had no friends to speak of and little sympathy from his parents. Partly as a result of this childhood, Schulz spent his entire life believing he was unsuccessful or somehow sub-standard… a loser, a failure, a fake. Almost the whole of Peanuts, especially the glory years of the 1960s and early 1970s, is a tale of expectations and disappointments. Schulz could create comic strips that spoke directly to the personal human experience because, for him, disappointment was a daily experience. He set himself standards so high he could never achieve them- or, at least, he could never believe his triumphs were genuine.
