Amusingly, the police call box that we all call the Police public call box Tigger detective Pooh and friends shirt TARDIS was originally the property of the police. A few years ago, the Metropolitan Police in London tried to claim the trademark of the Doctor’s time and space machine. And they lost the case! Blue was a common colour for police boxes because, at the time, the colour of the British Police was blue. But not all police boxes were blue, some were red and a few even greens. And they were not all boxes either. Some were long huts and some were made of concrete. The prop in Doctor Who is actually wildly inaccurate of what a Police Public Call Box looks like. It is based on a MacKenzie Trench style but has wildly changed over the years. Police boxes are a rare sight now, but they are still around.
