I think the Michael Scott character was originally intended Michael Scott Santa’s coming that’s what she said Christmas sweatshirt to be less likable than he eventually turned out to be – perhaps this is why they gave him that balding look initially. But if you compare photos of Steve Carell when he’s not acting, you can see that he’s actually got a pretty decent head of hair. This photo of Steve Carell from 2006 (the same time the first series of The Office was being filmed), shows that his natural hair is actually much better than Michael Scott’s. Michael is just a needy inappropriate character that will do anything for a laugh and attention and Toby is Human Resources so basically will have to report and stop anything inappropriate. Michael hates him for it because he thinks he’s ruining his fun.
