OK to put this in perspective: Approx. 70 people are bitten by sharks In a world full of fish be a shark shirt every year (globally), of these only 5 people die. So statistically you’re going to survive an “attack” anyway. Most of these “attacks” are exploratory bites. Sharks being opportunistic feeders (and like most other creatures in the world), they are looking for easy meals or free meat. It’s still astonishing to me that in most cases the shark takes a bite then swims away (apparently not liking the taste or feel of humans). In shark bite “incidents” (which I prefer to call it rather than “attack”) where a fatality occurs, it is usually from loss of blood (an artery is severed) or most commonly SHOCK.
