It also helps that we, perhaps out of respect for our I’m a grumpy old man I was born in August I’m too old to fight too slow to run shirt elders or out of a sense of futility, allow grumpy old people to behave inappropriately. We don’t expect them to follow all the rules. So, we don’t care when they break them. When a grumpy old man tells a little girl that she needs to stop eating so much because she’s starting to look like a school bus, we just go, “Oh, Grandpa!” If I were to say it, people would respond with, “What the Hell is wrong with you?” A good example is farting. It’s healthy to let it out. Holding it in is unhealthy and can cause internal stress. In our society, though, it’s inappropriate to fart in public. We can’t let anyone know that we fart, even though it’s something that literally all humans do. Old people don’t care.
