When I came home from Desert Storm in Flamingo a woman cannot survive on wine alone she also needs a cruise shirt November, we were the last unit to return to Ft. Riley. That evening there was an ice storm in the area. We landed in Topeka and it took over two hours to get to the Fort. We form up in one of the gyms on the post. The General of the post welcomed us home. He called out my name and presented me with my 6 months old baby girl. That was one of the most amazing moments in my life. Unlike during my era where when you left you left….today’s GI has the luxury of technology to see one another daily….so to say they haven’t seen one another for the duration of deployment….is simply not true…AND I AM GLAD FOR THEM BOTH!
